पहाड़ी ढलानों पर चाय क्यों उगाई जाती है?
यद्यपि चाय को अपनी वृद्धि के लिए वर्षा की आवश्यकता होती है, लेकिन स्थिर पानी इसकी जड़ों के लिए हानिकारक होता है।
इसलिए, यह पहाड़ी ढलानों पर उगाया जाता है, जहाँ पानी आसानी से निकल जाता है और जल-जमाव नहीं होता है।
जब भी यह घाटी में समान रूप से बढ़ता है जल निकासी अच्छी है। भारत में चाय बागान का अधिकांश भाग समुद्र तल से 600 से 1,800 मीटर ऊपर पाया जाता है।
चाय बागान समुचित विकास के लिए दोमट मिट्टी की मांग करता है जो पहाड़ी ढलानों पर पाया जाता है।
यह उद्यान साफ पहाड़ी ढलानों पर स्थापित किए जाते हैं,जहां छायादार पेड़ पहले से लगाए जाते हैं।
Why is tea grow over hill slopes?
Although tea requires having rainfall for its growth, stagnant water is injurious to its roots.It is ,therefore , grown on hill slopes where water drains away easily and water -logging does not take place.
However it grows equally well in the valley if the drainage is good.Most of the tea plantation in India are found 600 to 1,800 metres above sea level.
Tea plantation demands loamy soil for proper growth which is found over hill slopes.
Tea gardens are set up on the cleared hill slopes where shade trees are planted in advance.
